When my Hawaii family gets together, it’s always a good time! It was funny this time, though, because I was just in Hawaii for an extended amount of time. So when I was leaving I was telling them “see you next week”, but I was going to be flying across the Pacific Ocean two and a half times between then and now to go to Portland and Manila.
This was my cousin Wyatt’s wedding and it absolutely blew me away. The wedding itself was in a church in Sacramento that the bride’s family had gotten married in for something like four generations. And then the reception was held at the Crocker Museum right in the heart of the city.
It was the most beautiful wedding that I have ever been to. First of all, it was a black tie wedding - so everyone was dressed to the nines.
The cocktail hour was just perfect in the evening air in the open space outside, and the dinner was even better inside the lobby of the museum surrounded by artwork to one side and big floor to ceiling windows on the other. And just when I thought that it couldn’t get any better, the party started in an old 1800s mansion connected to the museum. The music was blaring, people were dancing, and the booze was flowing…
My mom and I danced the night away and had the best of times.
It was awesome. And even more awesome to do it in honor of Wyatt with all the best people.
