One year almost to the day, our little Spain family got to get together again. We got to remember the best of the times, and the best of times. Yes, I know that I put the best of times twice. Because they were literally the best of times!!!
You could just tell how special the trip was, both for the professors and the students, by how happy everyone was to see each other, the big smiles and laughter written across everyone’s faces, and how almost every student that was on the trip showed up - even the ones that already graduated! It was also a nice coincidence that Ismael just happened to be in Las Vegas after he took 10 of the students to a Real Madrid game.
One of the things that all of the exchange students did when they left was get a flag from the country that they were in and get it signed by all of the people that they met there - their host family, their mates from school, and other exchange students. So to replicate this for the students, I went and bought a bunch of little spain flags for all of the students to sign for each other. We went around the room signing each other’s flags, reminiscing those amazing two weeks that none of us would ever forget.
I couldn’t have asked for a better group of students. And I will always have a special place in my heart for each and every one of them. What a way to start out my teaching career!
PS: Mark and I also got to recreate our iconic photo that we took in front of the Royal Palace.
